An Interview with Bertie Ray III, Co-Owner of Switch Lighting and Design

1)      What do you want people (the community) to know about your business?

We are dedicated to the city of Cincinnati and enjoy working with downtown residents and the design community. We carry well over 50 lighting lines and we match online pricing.

2)      Why did you decide to set up your business in OTR?

It was an Aha! moment. Drew Dearwester and I were touring OTR, looking at the architecture and lamenting the blight of the community. We wanted to be a part of the change, to be a “light” in the community, hence Switch.

3)        Is there anything that surprised you about working or having a business in OTR?

I have been surprised by the rapid pace of development in OTR.

4)       Do you have a favorite place you like to go in OTR? (Restaurant, bar, shop, place to exercise, theatre).

I selfishly say Lavomatic because we did the redesign and remodeling. We like to take our out-of-town clients to Abigail Street. Every Monday, I have my list (of restaurants in OTR) and plan my lunches for the week.
